MILWAUKEE (AP) - Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton didn't start Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to a sore right knee.

The move was precautionary and shouldn't impact his appearance in next week's All-Star game and Home Run Derby.

"We thought he would take batting practice, see how he feels, but I don't want to take any chances," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. "It is an early game after a night game and also last night's game was like 10 hours."

Stanton likely was available as a pinch hitter.

Greg Dobbs replaced Stanton in right field. Hanley Ramirez was another late scratch because of knee soreness and was replaced at third base by Donovan Solano.

Stanton is batting .283 and leads the Marlins in homers (19) and RBIs (50). He began the day third in the NL in home runs, trailing Ryan Braun (22) and Carlos Beltran (20).
